Artist Statement

I’ve been called a hoarder, a pack rat, a creative soul.  I take my surroundings and live in a state of perpetual design.  I take materials, whatever they may be, and constantly envision rearranging them, merging them, breaking them apart, destroying them and unifying them.

I’ve been doing this as far back as I can remember. It always made me feel safe and in control of my surroundings.

My problem is that I see potential in everything.  Therefore, found items such as beach stones, shell fragments, twigs, hardware store findings– they’re all fair game.  Just as much as a bead or a crystal.  It’s a challenge to bring them all together into a unified, cohesive arrangement.  Combining the organic with the industrial is a theme to which I am drawn, pervasive in my natural shells and stones series

The materials I use are primarily metals, wires, stones, shells, glass, and plastic.  The end results are usually wearable art in the forms of earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings and pendants.

My goal is to have my work resonate with energy, be it a moment of frustration or a tranquil hum.

I find that keeping my art close to me brings me comfort, almost like a totem.  I want to create that same comfort for the wearer of my pieces.
