hob’art is now accepting new gallery members  for 2017

The hob’art co-operative gallery welcomes all artists working in the metropolitan area to join us and to exhibit their art along with a diversified group of artists from all walks of life. There is no jurying process to become a member of hob’art. All artists are welcome.

To apply for general membership

Annual membership is $55 per year and is billed in January. Membership includes press book representation (one image and artist statement for display portfolio), website representation and group exhibitions throughout the year. If you wish to join please:

hob’art cooperative  gallery is now accepting members for 2016.

We are a diverse group of artists living in and around Hoboken. Our objective is to exhibit contemporary art of the highest standard.  As a collective gallery, we welcome and encourage a wide range of art work and media: fiber, printmaking, digital, photography, sculpture/3D, painting, drawing and mixed media.

The gallery is located at the Monroe Art Center in Hoboken, NJ.  As a cooperative we work together to be inspired to create, to promote, to market, to exhibit, and to sell our work. We do this through workshops, critiques, exhibitions, artists talks, and opportunities to share and discuss our work through slide presentations at our gallery and various locations in Hoboken and the larger community.

Membership in the hob’art co-operative gallery includes membership in the organization. Gallery membership is $320 per annum. This entitles gallery members to  four person shows throughout the year and all group shows at the gallery for the year. We are asking that prospective members submit 3 pieces representing their work an an artist statement to hobartmembership@gmail.com

Formed in 2002, hob’art,  a co-operative gallery, is run by its officers and members. We are located at hobart Gallery E 208, The Monroe Center for the Arts, 720 Monroe Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030.

Membership responsibilities:
Gallery sit approximately 10 to 12x’s per year or hire a sitter in my place for $30 per session
Attend meetings, approximately 2x’s a year to be a voting member
Serve on, at least, one, 1 (one) committee.
Member will maintain a binder which includes, in a professional presentation, images/resume/bio/statement/press, etc.

Membership fees:  You must be a general member to become a gallery member.
General membership is $55/year…this entitles you to 2 *(two) members exhibit in the gallery per year.
Gallery Fee:  $265 per year…this entitles you to the above general membership percs as well as multiple 4 person shows throughout the year.

Total Membership;   $320

The gallery does not take a % of sales.  All queries are directed to the artist.

Website representation

The general membership includes representation on the hob’art website. Each new member is entitled to a web page with their artist statement, bio or resume and 3 images of their most current work as follows:

1. Three (3) images in .jpg format @ 72 dpi. 500pxls wide

Please include artwork title, dimensions, medium & price.

Images should be named as follows:

2. Include an artist statement (please send via email) and website URL if you have one, resume OR bio (not both) which will be on your page as a PDF.  Also include your Facebook, and Twitter address links.

Press book representation

The Press Book is used for advertising purposes during our exhibits. Each artist is entitled to one (1) photo and artist statement.  Use the template provided below to add your image and statement and bring these to your first meeting as a new member. Download the template here: Statement_template
